Daily Update #9 - Prison Guards Charged over Death of Jeffery Epstien

The two guards patrolling during the time of Jeffery Epstein's suicide have recently been charged on the account of falsifying documents, including documents on the alleged "regular cell checks" on Mr. Epstein that never occurred. Josh Gerstein of Politico investigates the details of the role that the two guards played in the controversial death of Epstein, and what the ruling means to the case going forward. The report on the mysterious circumstances around the death of Mr. Epstein begins with a summary, where Gerstein discusses the " repeatedly falsified official logs to show they made cell checks they never did ," . These cell checks, alongside reports of "sleeping on the job and suffering the internet" regularly, show that the officers had careless intent while supervising Mr. Epstein. Daily Update #8 - Clashes between Students and Police Continues at Poly U

Violent clashes between Poly U protestors and Hong Kong police continue to escalate, as students prepare themselves for a siege of the University by the armed police force. Mike Ives and Katherine Li of the New York Times examine the ever growing tensions in Hong Kong, and the alleged reason for the storming of the national university.  Beginning in March, residents have taken to the streets over a controversial extradition bill, one that protestors believe is another attack on their freedoms as citizens of Hong Kong. Since then, the protests have evolved to include "broader demands for democracy and police accountability," in regards to the fair treatment of Hong Kong citizens. As the protests extend into the latter months of the year, China has began to crack down on the sources of unrest.
